Please join us for a unique and simple, no cost, close to home, fun event here in River Road.
The Passegiatta/Promenade is this Sunday, May 27, from 3 to 6. Its supposed to be a nice weekend. Perfect!
The Passegiatta - the word refers to an icon of Italian culture,,,,,, a sort of cooperative community performance. We are asking people to help create a mile long piazza - from Rasor Park to Copping.
Its a mix n mingle, meet and greet. Its simply a social stroll. Its seeing your friends, greeting your neighbors, taking your time.
Imagine, lots of people just out walking, pik nikking, maybe some music, frisbee, just taking it easy.
This is also place making - creating something special with a local asset to help build community and cohesion. The bike path - along the River - no cars, green, serene, inviting, its community space, the Commons,,,,,,,
There is a growing movement in River Road and its about creating a greener and more local culture and economy. The Passegiatta is a perfect expression of this green movement - people and planet friendly and close to home.
We also want to call attention to our wonderful Green Way and the citizen initiatives going on to enhance the quality of life in River Road - Rasor Park, The Filbert Grove, Oakleigh Meadows, Heron Pond and West Bank Park. All these sites are benefiting from citizens taking initiative. Come and find out more!
We plan to have a Passegiatta every last Sunday of the month through September!
